Menteri Besar Johor Launched IDRISSI EduCity

IDRISSI International School is poised to grow with a new branch in Iskandar Puteri, Johor commencing this September 2022. Aimed at providing a five-star eco school experience with character building among children and teenagers, the long-awaited launch marked the school’s expansion and its plan to be a K-12 education gateway for the Southern region and the neighbouring countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and others.

Officially launched by the Menteri Besar Johor, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi on Saturday, 23 July, IDRISSI International School EduCity is hoped to be the catalyst of education in Iskandar Puteri. Adding that the city is recently planning to form an agriculturalist community, the Menteri Besar Johor expressed his appreciation towards the school for bringing the sustainable eco-school concept with a breath of fresh air in Johor.

“Being an eco-Islamic school, I am certain the students will be taught to have a greater appreciation of nature, and the contingent duties to preserve it. If they have this realisation at such a young age, they will turn out to be adults who are true vicegerents insyaAllah,” said the Menteri Besar Johor.

He also added, “IDRISSI International School has the potential to cultivate talents who are able to lead future sustainable development plans for Johor. While we plan and conceptualise what ideal progress would look like for the state, we have to take into account those who will continue our vision for balanced growth, one that places due importance on preserving the environment.”

Having nature as a quintessential part of the school, IDRISSI is also expected to be the green lung of Iskandar Puteri, Johor. Pet goats, rabbits, fishes, turtles and cats are raised at school for educational purposes as well as to give students a better form of leisure by caring and feeding the animals. Plants and trees surrounding the campus are also homegrown by the students.

Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi stressed that the state government of Johor is also very aware of the need for education at various levels. According to him, special assistance has recently been announced to upgrade teachers’ rooms in all schools registered in Johor. The Menteri Besar added the state government is always committed to producing a new generation of leaders to spur more sustainable development and competitiveness in Johor for the future.

Since early this year, the school is opened for students aged six to eight years old to strengthen their understanding mainly in English, Science and Mathematics, remedying the effects of COVID-19 on their education through a programme called the Primary Enhancement Programme. The students have also been given the opportunity to learn from several signature subjects offered by the school.

“We are as excited as the students from our existing programme about the school opening. They talk about it almost every day and most of them love to go school even on weekends because they genuinely love learning here. Seeing and hearing their enthusiasm, we can’t wait to welcome more students to experience IDRISSI this coming September,” said Mr. Shemmari, the Head of Academic.

The school also prides itself in having highly experienced and qualified educators for preschool, primary and secondary-level education. At the centre of it will be the multi-species of plants and animals that can easily be found and students will have real farm-to-table experience at school, which also means fresh vegetables and fruits consumption is just within arm’s length.

“Running on the same principles, I believe this campus will also be able to continue the homely culture and fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). We will always give our full support to our young changemakers and green evangelists to take charge in building a better and sustainable future,” said Julie Wong, the Chief Executive Officer of GAINS Education Group.

Breathing the same air as renowned international education institutions with excellent reputation, students will have the access to a truly multicultural community with a global everyday experience on campus, be it just learning or with boarding. At the same time, the school allows easy access to world-class facilities within EduCity vicinity.

IDRISSI International School EduCity, Iskandar Puteri is now ready to accept enrolment for its first intake which will kick off in September this year. Headquartered in Setia Alam, Selangor with a full capacity of 550 students, IDRISSI has established a proven track record of success in producing high quality graduates since inception.

Awarded a five-star rating for the Quality Standards for Private Education Institution (SKIPS) by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the school is also a certified Cambridge International School and a family of GAINS Education Group, the pioneer of early childhood education in Malaysia.
